19 year old Amisha belongs to Jafrabad near to GHCL’s salt yards in Gujarat. They are five members in the family and her father is working as a security guard. Her parents want her to study Science, but she does not have an aptitude and interest for it. Hence she was unable to pass the HSC exam in the Science stream. She became very depressed and confined herself to her house.

During this period, the community mobilizer from GHCL’s Vocational Training Institute visited her home and shared various choice based employment opportunities linked to short term vocational courses. Because she is a girl, her parents did not allow her to enrol in a course that involved moving out of village for employment.

After visiting GHCL’s Vocational Training institute and meeting other girl students plus telephonic conversations with the students placed in industries, the GHCL team succeed in convincing the parents.

She got an admission in BPO trade. During the course she learnt to speak English and was trained in communication & presentation skills as well as personality development and other life skills. After successful completion of training, the institute provided her employment support in an Ahmedabad based call centre. She joined the call centre job and within 6 months got a job of a sales person in a reputed mall with good salary and perks.

Today Amisha has 3.5 years of experience and is working as a Cashier cum Marketing Executive in a reputed firm in Ahmedabad with a good salary package. She has also passed HSC and FYBA and is supporting her family financially. She wants to complete her graduation and dreams of pursuing fashion designing course from her savings.

Whenever Amisha visits home, she definitely visits GHCL’s Vocational Institute. In her words “I was depressed but GHCL Institute has opened the doors of a new world for me. They gave me wings to fly high. Today my parents have full confidence and faith on me”.
